my boyfriend and i are going to dinner and movie tomorrow night but we have no clue where to go to dinner at. We live in the hampton roads area of virginia. We dont want somewhere common like red lobster, olive garden, applebees, chilis, anything like that, somewhere new and really nice. the kinda place you gotta dress up for.

in 1980, EVERYTHING tasted good...Taco Bell had real hamburger, not packaged crap....and also have thin cheese and better shells.....MCDs fries were the best...Wendys had real meat cooked when you got there not precooked and then water boiled!!!! WHAT HAPPENED and when are any of them going to return to those days...for all those of you that are too young, you are eating the worst tasting garbage ever today...nothing like it use to be...just thought I would tell you.
i don't eat the crap anymore...if they returned to quality I WOULD......
the oils have all changed for the worst too!

I recently was hired as a hostess and will be promoted to server on my eighteenth birthday. I did sit through the nearly two hours of training videos and info, and I asked my manager already to clarify this for me, but I just don't quite understand.

I get that I am paid definitely $4 an hour, but how does "tip out" work? And, when I'm a server, how do tips work?

Also, why don't I get paid for training? Even McDonald's paid me to train. Crazy.

I'm a server at a popular family resturaunt. A while back I was taking the order of a young couple and their 1 year old and the baby was like grabbing silverware and playing with it and the mom didn't like that so she raised her hand to the child like she was going to backhand her. The child stopped which says to me that she hits her child regularly. I didn't call the police, in fact I didn't do anything except stare in pure horror. I know some people think its ok to hit their kids, but thats usually the really trashy ignorant stupid ones who are horrible parents (and people in general.) What should I have done? Could I call the police (we have cameras all over the resturaunt for proof)?

If you disagree then its probably because you hit your kids. Hitting a defenseless baby is wrong, and they will pay for it when she gets into fights at school.
I think the problem is that most of you are assuming she was going to lightly tap her in the face, thats where you are wrong, it would have left a bruise...

Excuse me for not explaining that, And yes, people who hit their children are ignorant, stupid, and trashy because they don't educate themselves on how to raise their children with non-violent consequenses. My neice is 3 years old, she has never been hit not even once and she is the most polite, responsible, behaved child I have ever met. Its not "bigotry" its a scientific correlation.

I see kids getting into trouble at school, and later with the law because they never learned boundaries, the only punishment they understand is being hit, and teachers aren't allowed to do that, so they don't care if they violate boundaries, or get into trouble at school or anywhere hitting is illegal, because they can do whatever they want and wont get "punished" except by other kids who will fight them. Oh yeah, and when "hitting" becomes associated with "parent" and they aren't around guess who becomes their new parents, the prison guards and police of America!!! Time for you to wake up sir!
