I have version 5 and haven't upgraded to version 6 yet, which allows for multiple characters.
I also have the Pro version of Crazy Talk 5, but I don't think you need it for most IM-type uses.
The biggest "problem" with CrazyTalk is that it's TOOOOOO much fun and you get distracted a lot.
But, once you set up a character, which only takes a few minutes once you learn the program, you can pretty much just copy/paste text (or add a audio file) and you have an animated "spokesperson"...
It takes a little more time, but for some uses it looks less spammy and can add a lot of interest to a video. And, like I said earlier, it is actually fun to use.
