Instructions:

EXPERT QUICK START:

1 Download and unzip

2 Change name of /KFiles folder and ftp/upload it to your web site.

3 Adjust the URL below to your situation and ry to visit this test page to see if you have the correct URL:
http://YourDomain.com/KFiles/

If you reach the test page correctly:

4 Open the Clipping folder and then one of the three folders for your particular text editor.

5 Open all .ctl, .clb, or .TCL files in your text editor.

.ctl - EditPlus
.clb - NoteTab
.TCL - Textpad

6 Do a find/replace across all the clip library files so that all the file URLs will match all the files in the folder you just uploaded:

Find:
example.com/KFiles/

Replace:
YourDomain/KFiles/

Or if you changed the name of the KFiles folder:
Replace:
YourDomain/NewName/

7 Save All!!!!!!

8 Move saved clip files to clip library folder for your text editor.

9 Restart text editor.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Download and unzip one of the text editors.

2 Download and unzip the package.

3 Upload the KFiles folder to your web site using FTP.

Tip: Change the name of the folder "KFiles" to something else. so everyone doesn't use the same footprint, then change this accordingly in the "replacement".

4 Test. Try to visit this test page to see if you have the correct URL:

http://YourDomain/KFiles/test.html

If you see the simple message, you're all set. If not, we need to figure out what the correct URL is.

5 Open the "Clippings" folder, then open the appropriate folder for your text editor.

Note: Each text editor uses very similar, but slightly different, files and syntax to store clips. These files are really just text files but have the extensions:
.ctl - EditPlus
.clb - NoteTab
.TCL - Textpad

You can "direct edit" each clip library in a text editory, just learn the simple syntax for each.

Open all the .ctl, .clb or .TCL in your text editor so each is open in a seperate tab.

Then do a find and replace:
Find:
example.com/KFiles/

Replace:
YourDomain/KFiles/

Or if you changed the name of the KFiles folder:
Find:
example.com/KFiles/

Replace:
YourDomain/NewName/

...Match this URL with your upload.

BE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS SOMETHING LIKE "REPLACE IN ALL OPEN DOCUMENTS".

Remember to "Save All". This is a little different that just "Save". Since you did a "search and replace" across multiple files, you need to same them all.

Test the URL by matching it with the info above and pasting it into your web browswer address bar:

If it works, the rest should work...If most do, but one or two don't, it's an error on my part.

If it doesn't work and you get a "file not found error", double check the file name, especially pay attention to slashes. Missing and-or double slashes are my most common errors. You will need to repeat the search/replace process, this time finding any errors and replacing them with corrections.

Move the contents of the Clip folder to the clip storage folder for the program.

The end.
