#0, Image Resizer - Fast Stone
Posted by Kurt on Apr-11-10 at 01:49 PM
Fast Stone is a great free batch image resizing program. As I get into page making, we'll be using a lot of photos, as they add a lot to pages.

Download Fast Stone here, you'll need it soon:

Quick Guide to Fast Stone:

Go to www.Morguefile.com (best usage license) and download some good, relevant images to a file.

Don't use the "download" link. These downloads are high resolution pictures to be used for printing.

Instead, click a thumbnail and use the image that's DISPLAYED on the download page, not the download link.

For example:

Even these pics are 600K+ and sometimes too wide or tall. So we'll use Fast Stone to make them smaller and load faster fast and easy.

After you've downloaded your pics, open Fast Stone.

In the left window of Fast Stone, navigate to the folder containing your pics.

Select the pics you want to modify so they now appear in the right window of Fast Stone.

Output Format = JPEG

Output Folder = Check box and select the folder you want the new versions of the pics to be placed. Normally, this will be the folder containing the web pages for the project.

Check "Use Advanced Options Resize" - The "Advanced Options" button will appear. Click it.

Click "Resize" tab. Click "resize" box and some options will appear.

Click "in percentage".

Enter 50%.

Filter = none

Click "OK" - You'll return to main menu.

Give base name of images, such as: pic

Click "Convert" button.

You now have resized all your images and reduced the download size to about 1/10th of what it was before.

Again, images make great content for camauflage blogs and they are usually easier to collect and resize than writing content is.

Remember, the goal of many of our projects is for linking purposes, not for direct SEO. A page with a picture and a few words is all we need to be able to add our links to.

Adding good looking pictures and videos not only looks good and adds camauflage, but also fills up pages. Truth is, most page spammers don't use images, and if it doesn't look like spam, most people won't think of it as spam.

Take the time to add images to our future projects...
