I may add that the beauty of this strategy is that if you fail with one term you can just centrally update your link anchors and go for another.

Anyway, I looked up Dave's network and did not see any spectacular rankings or money sites with substantial traffic. I may just ended up in a separated network I don't know. But even if that's the case, still just a fraction of the sites seem to receive traffic.

The reason I said we may need more blackholes (or at least more domains to host the same blackhole) is to have them change asynchronously across the network.

But at the end of the day this setup is just the same as Dave's original, except less control over the content so syndicating on RSS aggregators and social media with authority may be better strategy. Any thoughts on this?
