I suppose there are already a couple of you setting these up....

I can easily install WP with a click. But which plugin needs it to be update secretly via the "blackhole pheed" (via RSS).

So we have RSS blogs, tripod, geocities, yahoos and WP blogs To be sure to have all types

Hi Taz & Noel,

Taz, do you want to post your RSS items as WP blog posts?

If so, you can try FeedWordpress: http://projects.radgeek.com/feedwordpress/

or WP O Matic: http://devthought.com/wp-o-matic-the-wordpress-rss-agreggator/

I prefer WP O Matic, as it lets you rewrite words automatically ( keyword-a becomes keyword-b ) and automatically links words you specify. Plus it's still being developed, while FeedWordpress isn't.

Both are free. Not sure if either is compatible with WP 2.5 yet.

Of course, there's always RSS2Blog, but that costs $$$.

Here's a new plugin that you may want to consider:
http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=226173

It's not free, but the price seems quite reasonable. I haven't used it, but I've been thinking of purchasing it.
Unless, of course, someone has a better suggestion.

Phil,

I am also looking for a similar plugin solution. One that would post a defined number of posts from rss feeds daily, weekly or every 16 hours for example. If you decide to go with this please review it.

Thanks

Noel

Thanks Jeff !!!! That is what I need...

Why ?

1) I want to use the blackhole pheed concept ( read at http://www.dombom.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2&forum=DCForumID42 ) !

2) How to monetize these WP sites ? Easy, I found it recently. You just sell a service of hosting like 10 subdomains on 5 unique IP domains ( so 2 each ) and sell it for a subscription of $10 per month.

According to the FeedWordpress web site, it is still being developed. In fact,
a new version was released as recently as 4 February 2008.

anybody bought this??
Looks like a nice idea but I found his other wsos a bit cheesy like the "loophole" and "I come clean" so I am not sure if this "approach" applies also to his software!

I download the feeds I want to use into tuelz, scrub em, then I use Carp to display on wordpress.

http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/rss-solves-website-problems.php?assoc=467

It's highly customizable, but there is a bit of a learning curve, not huge. I've used carp for years and I love it. There is a free version and paid. I think the paid version is like 25 bucks, but I can't be sure- I paid 15 for it when I bought it years ago.

There is a plugin for it as well, but I haven't tried it yet, and you must have carp installed.

Is it possible to use Carp to post one article per day from an article feed containing say 100 articles in rss format?

Most plugins like Feedwordpress would just grab and post all the articles in one go.
