Hi Guys,

Sorry I haven't been around for the past couple of weeks. Been out sick and haven't worked on sites since before Christmas. Better now though and ready to go!

The thing is, I am working on 2 different things right now. 1 is Bombs and tuelz, and the other is a couple of Joomla sites.

So, I was wondering if it is possible to integrate them together.

Has anyone tried to install Fatty and BlogBomb on the same server as a Joomla site? How about using the bombs in the Joomla modules ... does it work or not?

It seems to me it should work right?

For instance, I have that new software submission site and was wanting to put some content up for visitors and the Search Engines. I could put up a Fatty search box and possibly some pheeds.

It might even work out better using static pages for the content in individual modules.

Anyone else have some feedback?

Thanks ....

Mary

Hey Mary!!

Great to see you back! Hope you are feeling better now

Yeah I'm sure you can install the bombs on the same server as joomla did not use the cgi folder. You can add the fatbomb searchbox into the joomla site by editing the index.php of the template.

as for blogbomb, it's even easier, go look for a module that displays rss feeds , then you can display pheeds made by blogbomb..

hope that helps!

Hey Chris,

Yes, am feeling somewhat better kid.

That's kind of what I was thinking about BBX.

Now I am wondering if I can just put up a search box in a module under a content section, then mark it software search in the main menu.

That should work.

I am a bit surprised no one has tried either of the bombs on Joomla sites. It seems to me, if I make up some static pages from a Fatty search and run some feeds using ZZ and scrubs, Joomla sites would be easy to make and flip. Plus, they will probably sell at a higher rate.

Anyway, thanks Chrtis ....

Kurt,

That's okay kid. Lol, you can't be expected to know and do everything can ya?

Seriously though, I guess I can check it out and report back here in this thread if that's okay with you. Maybe some other people will find the info useful.

If not, go ahead and delete the thread. There's no point in cluttering up the forum with stuff like this.

Hi guys,

I just want to give an update regarding using Fatty, BBX2, and th tulzs with Joomla.

All I can say is thy work great together, so if you incorporate thm with Joomla sites, you can hav an awesome authority site eventually.

Th main problem I had was getting th Mod-rewrit to work in the dot htaccess to make Fatty pages on the fly.

Just in case someone else is having the same problem, here is the code to put in that file:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule (<^/.>+).html$ /cgi-bin/fatbomb/fatbomb.cgi/?skin=skin6&keywords=$1

Of course you need to change the skin in this code to match whatever skin you are using for your site.

Btw, Hyperpower (Chris) does this kind of work with Joomla. He helped me out tremendously with the gaming site in my sig file.

So thanks Chris.

Umm ... the above code is not correct.

I forgot about using square brackets in the forum.

Here is the correct code.

Just substitute the bolded "{" and "}" to left and right half square brackets:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ({^/.}+).html$ /cgi-bin/fatbomb/fatbomb.cgi/?skin=skin6&keywords=$1 {L}

DO NOT change any other brackets, otherwise the code will not work correctly.

Apologies for not checking the code after posting until now. :0

--------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all

I've been looking around the forum for some joomla related topics
but I haven't found many... in fact, very few
Is joomla not loved around here?

I'm posting on this thread rather than starting a new one just...
ehr... just because, I guess ... I don't know, it just seemed tidier

Anyways, I'm going to be working on a kurtimized joomla website on
the next few days, and I'll share any feedback and good things that
I get to see happening to it next week... meanwhile, if anyone has
any ideas/suggestions, comments, whatever, related to using joomla
with Kurt's stuff I would really appreciate any of them

cheers!
