I lost my top 5 position to a site with only BC backlinks -
that just pissed me off... (sorry for the post)

Do you mean you went from 5 to 6 or your site dropped out of the top 10 altogether?

something like that - its more about the camouflage thing its a lot of work and then you see someone (and not for the first time)who outrank you with plain BC - what about Matt C. warning about BC...

Sorry Karsten...Didn't know you were asking a question.

I have the best comment spamming software available. I've spent $100's if not $1,000's. But to tell you the truth, I've never used any of them. I bite on the sales letters, but just can't bring myself to actually comment spam.

But if I were going to do it, there's no way I'd do it without using camouflage pages.

Camouflage pages are really just pages that are a little "link bait" type pages, but don't have any footprints to who owns them.

Comment spam may work, but I can't believe it will go on much longer. It's really getting to be a problem and Google with have to react eventually, as those links are really worthless. And it isn't hard to which links are posted in "comments" and which are not.

If you agree with my opinion, then setting up networks where you control all aspects of the pages will be a more legit long term strategy.

Owning properties is much more powerful than getting a link, as each page you create gives you multple linking opps.

Having said this, there's no doubt in my mind that blasting away with comment link spam works right now. But how long can this go on? Plus, I'm seeing more and more lawsuits and legal threats, as well as warning from ISPs concerning the spamming of sites.

maybe I lack of boldness - I have a hard time doing this comment thing myself - the problem is you rank much higher/better with comment spam than with camouflage pages - I tested this...

I think you're missing one of the main points of using camouflage pages...It isn't a matter of doing one or the other, if you're going to comment spam, you better use camouflage.

I don't suggest this, but if you spam you should put up a camouflage page with a popular video relating to a particulr niche. Use comment spam link to the camouflage page, which in turn discretly links to your money sites.

It only takes one persistant complainer to get your ISP cancelled. Where I'm living now, I can't risk that.

Hi Guys

I haven't been around here much lately, but I'm back!

As far as comment spamming goes, I would use it to build links to your web 2.0 stuff like weebly or blogger. Then link out to your camouflage sites. It's just that lately, I am liking higher quality camouflage sites and would like to even have a layer of web 2.0 in between the camouflage site to protect them.

Just blast 1000's of bc's to a weebly or blogger or even an ezine article.

Just my opinion!

I read something recently that suggested doing only 20 real blog comments to the home page and 5 to each of the internal pages. The basic money sites I am building have anywhere from 5 - 10 real pages of real content (posts are on auto pilot for some).

At that rate, it wouldn't be too hard to do real blog commenting as opposed to commenting spam. Even as slow as I work I think I could do the comments for one site in a week. Well, as long as I don't get sidetracked actually reading the blogs.

I honestly don't know if this lower rate of commenting would be of much help against those who do comment spamming but then I'm in the party that thinks links should be from a variety of sources and be of a variety of types.

Kurt,

I have gotten confused here.

Can you start a thread or point me to a thread where you explain camouflage pages/sites more, please? What are you camouflaging and how do you make no footprints? Do you mean no footprint leading back to us as owner? How do these fit in with the tin -> silver -> gold sites or building link wheels to pages of a site?
