IMPORTANT: This is only for those with Tuelz Version 1.x. If all of your Tuelz are 2.0 or 2.02, etc, then you can ignore this thread.

Let's try testing upgrading all Tuelz to versions 2.0 using Upgradez.

Note: You will need to use the "power" version of Upgradez to get the upgradez.

1. Make a copy of your ENTIRE Tuelz folder. Just "copy/paste" the folder and it should create a copy....Just in case something goes wrong, it is very easy for you to revert to your original Tuelz.

Please, please, please make a backup.

2. Click the Upgradez Tuel and upgrade Upgradez. Ignore any other Tuelz that may need upgrading.

3. Restart tuelz.exe

4. Click Upgradez again (this is a new version from the last) and then click Upgrade All.

5. After all the Tuelz are downloaded. Restart tuelz.exe

IMPORTANT: You may have to wait 5-8 minutes OR LONGER for the Browser window to open and for Tuelz to update all databases, etc, especially if you have many projects and installed RSS pheeds. Just let it update. It will open the browser window on it's own. Any premature refreshing may cause an error.

After Tuelz has reloaded, the Main tuelbox page will appear. At this time, you may have to refresh your screen.

6. Check to see if all your Tuelz projects are intact, your RSS pheeds are still in The Newz Tuel, etc.

Maybe the most signifigant upgrade deals with ZZ. I've added a new linking structure that will "spin" three columns of keywords to use as anchor text.

This gives ZZ the benefit of not repeating anchor text when creating yoru pages.

The first keyword in the left column is the default.

You can use blank lines, which will mix up the combos even more, often "nothing" is better than something.

Don't forget...Make a backup copy of your ENTIRE Tuelz folder before upgrading.

Thanks for replying to my first post Kurt.

Unfortunately, even after these instructions, I am getting a similar error. Here is what it says in my browser after clicking to upgrade:

-----
Tuelz
Software Error

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\webs.py", line 178, in do_GET
File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 119, in handle
File "C:\Xi\tuelz\core\handlers.py", line 127, in traverse
File "./upgradez.mod/upgradez/upgradeztuels.py", line 96, in upgrade_action
File "./upgradez.mod/upgradez/upgradeztuels.py", line 82, in upgrade
OSError: {Errno 13} Permission denied
-----

It's the same in both Firefox and IE.

My tuelz work fine otherwise.

Thanks,

Ron

Kurt,

I don't have Upgradez in my 1.0 webmasters Tuelz kit. I also have ZZ Tuel v. 1.61.

I do have the 2.0 Tuelz from the Warrior Forum link you posted about 2 weeks ago.

So, how do I upgrade ZZ Tuel?

Ernie and Everyone...

If you don't have Upgradez 1.x, you can download it here:
www.tuelz.com/upgradez.zip

1 Make a back up copy of your Tuelz 1 folder!!!!

2 Exit Tuelz.exe

3 Unzip into your Tuelz 1.x folder

4 Restart tuelz.exe

5 Then follow the instructions in the first post on this thread

Ernie...

I fixed it:
http://www.tuelz.com/upgradez.zip

Sorry about that. Let me say that this Upgradez system is in beta (and so am I).

ALL...Don't forget to make a backup of your entire Tuelz folder. You should do this regularly anyway, to make sure you have a copy of all your pheeds, projects, etc.

What's the version of Upgradez you are using? If it's not 1.12, please download Upgradez from the link given by Kurt and try again.

Kurt,

Followed your directions to the "T." All it showed was that all Tuelz are already at some form of 2.x and nothing out of the ordinary happened. Never saw anything outstanding or even the "Upgrade All" button.

John,

If you have 2.0, then theres no reason to upgrade to 2.0....Which means you have already Upgraded.

Thanks for your help. The upgrade worked after I downloaded the new upgradez version.

Hi Kurt (and Kirill)

I'd just like to say that, following your instructions, I didn't have any serious problem upgrading all my Tuelz to V.2.xx.

I now have a completely different-looking TuelBox and it looks great.

My only difficulty arose when trying to use the v1.0 Upgradez and I got similar error messages as described above. Then I read further down the thread and used the .zip file to upgrade Upgradez. Thereafter, it worked as described. (and Yes! I did back-up my Tuelz v1.xx folder).

In spite of the difficulties I know you are enduring Kurt, you are still at the 'Top of Your Game', when it comes to 'Customer Service'.

You (and Kirill) rock!!

I hope you find a way to deal with your problem shoulder/arm, without going under the 'knife'. I've avoided the 'knife' thus far and am dealing with my 'problem' leg, on a day-to-day basis.

Anyway, this thread is about 'Upgrading' and I'm wandering, so I'll just say that, if you follow the instructions, the Upgradez route is a 'breeze'.

Thanks Kurt

Kind regards

Ian

Hi Kurt (and Kirill),

I get a 'can not display this page' whenever I click on the tuelz.exe. This problem only began after I was able to successfully upgrade all of my version 1 tuelz mods.

Since I wasn't able to bring up the upgraded version of the tuelz, I tried to bring up the tuelz that came with the PetHealthSite. I was able to bring up the tuelz using the tuelz.exe that came with the site. The only problem now is that all of the tuelz are very limited. Can you tell me how to have the tuelz.exe recognize the fact that I have the unlimited (full power) version 2 of all the tuelz, except for commentz mod, moverz mod and rotatez mods which I never purchased. An I just purchased the version 2 Scrubz mod.

I also purchased the ZZ Tuel back on 2/25/05.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Donald

Hi Don,

First, try this:

Exit Tuelz.

Copy the working version of The Newz Tuel (newz.mod) into your Full-Non-working Tuelz and see if this fixes it.

There's a version of The Newz Tuel that has a little bug that can cause the problem you described.
