Please post any suggestions and ideas for getting content below.

My strategy is to use all types of content, ranging from high quality original content, to semi-spammy, to RSS pheeds. Basically, anything you can legally/morally get your hands on...

Again, you want to put your highest quality content on your "gold/money" sites, then use your other content to drive traffic and links to these sites.

Also, you should always be on the lookout for PRL content. In coming months, we'll learn how to spin, dedoop and SEO it.

While PLR content has others using it, it also has a license that lets you do anything you want to it.

So start stock-piling PLR content whenever you can.

Some types of content:

Original
RSS
Public domain
PLR
Article directories
Affiliate supplied, such as Amazon

Note: some of the best "link bait" type sites don't use written content, but rather are games, pictures, videos, online scripts, etc.

IMO, the best content is User Generated Content, where you get your readers to write the content for you...

Here are some suggestions for User Generated Content:
Forums
Blog posts
Niche Article diretories
Niche Video site
Niche Myspace
Niche Craigslist
Niche Auction
Niche Bookmarking Site

Just as some gurus say "money is in the list", I say for SEO you should try to focus your efforts on generating and collecting User Generated Content.

SEO is all about "words"...If you can get tons of people writing words for you, you're well ahead of the SEO game. There's many forums and other sites that don't do a bit of SEO, yet get tons of SE traffic, simply becuase they have so many words on so many pages that something is bound to rank well...

If you have other suggestsions for content, including any scripts that will work for my list above, please post them below...

Thanks.

Repurposing content.

IF you have autoreponder content, modify it for you blog.

Same with PLR articles, load it into your autoresponder, post into blogs, etc.

Databases can be HUGE sources of content for those with the skills or resources (willing to hire someone). Many hardcore blackhat SEOers rely heavily on creating sites using databases.

This site has a nice collection of databases:

Doing what? Setting up a network of (sort of content) - directories spread over different hosts (different IPs) linking to silver/gold sites?

Copernic Summarizer is a useful tool for writing articles.

It will allow you to summarize a page from Wikipedia for example and save 25 percent or 100 word (variable) to a text or html file, great for article writing ideas, or blog posts.

Menu button integrated into applications such as Internet Explorer, and Ms Word and pdf files so you can summarize pages or documents on the fly.

Databases are best used for buidling large sites, in terms of numbers.

Most sites of 10,000 plus pages are built from a database, as it makes it easy to "spin" the contents.

Let's say you have a database of web designers in the US.

You can create 50 pages, one for each state. 100 more pages, each of the 100 largest US city.

You could also list them by keyword such as "php", "flash", "SEO", etc., and probably come up with another 500 pages.

Buy a database for $50, pay another $50 to have someone install it and write a simple php search script and you can have content for a huge site for $100.

Some of the smaller databases could probably be converted to Fatty format and used in Fatty SERPs. The larger ones would need MYSQL and a php search script.

This would let you have a custom niche search engine, in this case for web designers.

The problem with many databases is that the content is often scraped from other sites and there could be concerns about copyrights of the contents of the database.

Let's also include a list of types of sites that will encourage user generated content:

Forums
Blog comments
Give away blogs and webpages
wikis
classified ads
auction
Social Bookmarking
MySpace
Article directory
YouTube
Flickr (pictures)

All of the above could be adapted to big and small niches and will give you free, unique, quality user generated content.

You'll also get repeat visitors, bookmarks, etc, which will also help with any People Rank.

The down side is, you need to have lots of traffic BEFORE you can make these types of sites work.

If you know of any free/good scripts that will build these types of sites, please add them to this thread.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone.

Here's a resource I have been using, in which I haven't seen much duplicated content, and updates regularly.

ARA Content:

http://www.aracontent.com

(from the site)
ARA Content provides free, high quality feature articles to reporters, editors and print publishers. These features are copyright free and in a variety of categories coordinated to fit the editorial calendars of a typical newspaper.
------------

They have free registration, and even provide images to go along with the articles.

I haven't seen much of the content used in marketing circles, I have seen some of the articles used on media sites like tv station websites, so I think this would be good for our niche sites.

Also:

Content Infusion
http://www.contentinfusion.com/
and
EZArticles
http://www.mj99.com/scripts/ezarticles.html
(no affiliation on my part)

Content Infusion is a site that uses javascript and other formats to put ARA content on your site. EZArticles is a php script that uses content from content infusion to update your site. So all the resources go hand in hand.

The content is high quality and like I said I haven't seen it duplicated much except in media circles.

Hope this Helps,

Ron

P.S.
The mj99 site has some other nice useful scripts.

P.P.S.
Hope everyone's New Year is prosperous and bright!

Hey Matt,

I downloaded it, but never installed it.

What I've been told and read is that Dolphin will need some tweaking and isn't for the faint-hearted. But once you get it working, it's a very powerful program.

Dolphin is a great example of what is possible for anyone here, but only for folks already getting good traffic. By good traffic, I mean thousands of unique visitors per day.

IMO, you need to focus on tin/silver sites at first, with the end goal of building a gold-diamond site, possibly by using Dolphin.

Every major niche is ripe for a "MySpace" type community. Car lovers, campers, photographers, work at home moms, sports fans, writers, marketers, cooks and countless other niches could be used to build communities.

Another option for User Generated Content is a plug in for WordPress called WPMU or "Wordpress Multi User".

http://mu.wordpress.org/download/

WPMU lets users create WP blogs on your server/host.

WPMU is also commonly used by blackhatters. They use WPMU to create a bunch of WP blogs, then automate adding content.

I'm not sure how much success they are having. It's probably more a factor of how they do it, than if it works or not...

You also need some good, solid traffic before you can attempt to give away blogs.

I just found this site - they offer a joomla (nuke) plugin which redistribute their content to your (joomla site)

I just wonder if somebody knows a script which just scrapes i.e. articlecity etc and redistribute the content to (your site) without aproving.

I like the idea of having an article directory but I can see there is too much work involved in approving all the articles
and if you allow instant approval you will invite all the nasty spammers LOL

You might want to try http://www.uniquearticlewizard.com/contact.html#downloads for a plugin for different types of sites including the two popular article directories.

You will get articles from the Unique Article Wizard system. Don't go too niche with this. Use upper level categories. Check out their uberarticles.com site for what the articles look like and categories are.

I am trying to build such a system using blogs in folders and subdomains, if my wpmanagerdx would just start working right. (not its fault-fault of hosting)

Just wanted to be clear. The problem I am having is with the hosting, not wpmanagerdx. Hosting needed a php.ini? if I have that correct. Cheap hosting is my problem so far not allowing certain functions.

What I like is I can create a profile in wpmanagerdx, upload the specific theme I like (cutline) and the plugins, and then just install that across the sites, subdomains and folders I want. I was getting real tired of doing with fantastico and doing the theme and plugins by hand. So tired in fact that I quit.

Thanks, Ian.

I installed dashboard but decided to uninstall it. Requires getting people to submitt articles and that will take me away from what I am doing.

I have sites on sports, comicbooks, words, real estate etc. I need content to use with the RSS Explosion. I have been using it and it works great for me. I'll trade my skills in using the tool for some good content.

Sounds similar to some folks ?

One simple rewrite of article :
1) go to a free translator

3) english to french
4) french to english
One disavantage, probably only 1 good quality article, thereafter too much dulitions...

If you don't want to spend the time spinning articles, then the next best thing is to get people to spin them for you

That's what happens with article dashboard installs. Authors (and I use that term loosely) submit their article to each directory but spin it a bit each time.

Looking through some of my content that I pulled from the submitted articles you can start to see a pattern:

A 35 year old male with 250,000 in coverage can pay 195 up front per year for life insurance coverage.
A 35 year old nonsmoking male in excellent health can buy a 500,000 term life insurance policy for about 700 per year.
A 40 year old male with 250,000 in coverage can pay 263 up front per year for life insurance coverage.
A 45 year old male with 250,000 in coverage can pay 373 up front per year for life insurance coverage.
A 70 year old man driving a twenty year old truck will pay a different car insurance rate than an 18 year old that drives a sports car.
A 70 year old man driving a twenty year old truck will pay a different car insurance rate than an eighteen year old that drives a sports car.
A 70 year young man driving a 20 year old truck will pay a different car insurance rate than an 18 year old that drives a sports car.

Here is an example of an article dashboard install that gets lots of user generated content.

http://www.technologynetwork.info

It also uses a creative commons license to enable anyone to reuse the content.

It has a good selection of rss feeds:

http://www.technologynetwork.info/rssfeed.php

But I still think the blackhole rss feeds are easier to create and manage.

Article dashboard blogging rss feed:

http://www.technologynetwork.info/rss/Blogging/142

Kurt's blackhole feed using content from article dashboard:

http://www.technologynetwork.info/blogging.xml

I use both to mix it up when posting to blogs.

To recap, set up an article dashboard site under a creative commons license and in a couple months you will have loads of user generated content at your disposal.

Some questions...
I see in this example that there isn't an "author signature". You won't get much articles if it doesn't have a link to author's site. Shouldn't we allow this ? But no links from author in article body, right ?

I also saw the "articles source" that gets a link back to the article on the dashboard site.
Or we should leave that like that or we should add something like "Keyword sponsors : blog", blog being an archor text with link to one of our tin / silver / gold (???) sites ? How to be sure that those links are shown by others ?

May we replace some keywords found in the article to our tin / silver / gold sites ? With author signature, would people find it fair ?

Hey Taz...

Top Hat is away from his computer on an "adventure" for a couple of months...You're one your own.

I don't use ArticleDashboard but will add this opinion...If you just use a small part of the article, then link to the full article that contains the bio, I feel that's OK. But this is just my opinion.

Woow the lucky b*st*rd

Thanks Kurt...

I thought about that "keyword sponsoring", so we get links back to our sites instead of our "article dashboard site".
Hummm maybe choose for "article source"-method AND "keyword sponsoring"-method. Why ? Then we have 2 links to our sites and 1 link to author site (statistical view author has less PR/link juice!)

BUT of course if we use an article, we give away a FREE link back to the author's site.

At Kurt's suggestion, I took a look today at Amazon's "work marketplace", Mechanical Turk http://www.mturk.com/

In very simple terms, as a Requester you put up HITS which are clearly defined tasks that you want performed by one or multiple Workers. Example HITS: Bookmark a site in del.cio.us (0.05), write a comment (0.01), submit a blog post to yearblook (0.25)...

The stunning part about it are the rates; the figures next to the examples above are the amounts being paid in US$ for each job. Amazon adds a 2.5% fee and you have to have sufficient funds deposited in your Amazon Payments account to cover your work and fee liabilities.

A warrior used it to have sentences rewritten for $0.05 each; each sentence went to 25 people (you set the rate and you can use as many or as few people as you wish) and he ended up with enough content for 700 articles. He didn't say how many sentences he put out but on the assumption that a small article has about 60 sentences, 60 sentences * 25 people * 0.05 = $75 for what turned into 700 spun articles. He said the quality of work was extremely high.

The main disadvantage for me is that at the moment only US residents (in effect, owners of a US credit card or bank account) can deposit funds in an Amazon Payments account and consequently request work. To get around that, if you have way too much time on your hands you can become a Worker and use the amounts you earn to fund your Amazon Payments account. I did 6 very small jobs today just to see how the system works; they are all still pending approval by the Requesters.

It is against Amazon's TOS to use this service to get people to click on your ads, or to ask any Worker for personally identifiable information.

There is of course nothing to stop a US resident creating an account and taking prepaid "orders" from other people; a site called http://www.hit-builder.com/ does exactly that but it requires a wire transfer from non-US citizens.

This could be a great BombSquad group project if someone is prepared to act as the main Requester for the group and the rest prepay their orders to him/her via Paypal for example. Output could be exclusive or shared.

There is enormous scope here to have all kinds of tasks performed for very low rates, not just content production .. take a look at the HITS up there now and you'll see the variety of things people are using it for http://www.mturk.com/mturk/findhits?match=false

Not a goer for me on my own unfortunately, but I'd be very interested in a group project.

I really think that mturk has extreme potential when it comes to IM and SEO.

Ernie (Johlum) posted this on the free download thread, but I felt it should also be posted here...

Jon Leger has come up with a pretty cool free "summarizer". It takes SE results, spiders the top ranked sites, and returns sentences/paragraphs from those sites that contain you keywords.

It's free, and to be honest, not sure it isn't almost as good as Instant Article Writer Pro.

A possibility is to take the results from Gist Web and post them at mtruk for a rewrite, giving you cheap, fast, high quality content.

Give Gist Web a quick try:

A thread was made at the Warriors warning that the Digg TOS says:

"Once a story has been submitted to Digg, it is dedicated to the public domain under the Creative Commons Zero Public Domain Dedication, available at Creative Commons — CC0 1.0

My thoughts are: Cool! Tons and tons of free, public domain RSS pheeds full of quality content.

Note: This doesn't mean the articles themselves are public domain. It only means the titles and descriptions are. These are great for credating FAtBomb sites or using the RSS to add some good content to your pages using BlogBomb or ZZ.

Hey Matt

I installed Dolphin. It's a pretty easy install for anyone that's comfortable with creating MySQL databases and installing scripts.

I didn't proceed with the project however because of bandwidth considerations.

If you start allowing video-sharing, your bandwidth costs are going to go up pretty rapidly. This is fine if you have the site well-monetised but be sure to know how you are going to monetise it, before putting it 'out there'.

The other factor to bear in mind is that sites like this need pretty constant moderation, which is fine if you have a good number of reliable people to hand this chore off to, but you don't want to give yourself the task of being the sole moderator, if, like me, you are a 'one man band'

HTH

Kind regards

Ian

Just wanted to point out a content rewriting service I was introduced to lately. Maybe some of you already know about it. I haven't used it yet but it is definitely on my list. I will use it to rewrite plr and to rewrite articles I purchase to use not only on my own sites but in web 2.0 sites and wherever I need it like uaw.

The rewriting is done by humans on a sentence by sentence basis. You can get the output in common spinner syntax too.

It is http://www.humanrewriter.com/index.php

There is also a wso for it from a couple months ago: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-special-offers-forum/93938-humanrewriter-com-get-up-15-trying-our-top-notch-rewriting-service.html
