Pros - Offers results from many different services all in one, including WordTracker, LSI, Keyword Discovery and more.

They have a budget membership and you can buy more "tokens" if you need more services. However, I've found that the cheapest membership is more than enough for my needs and unused tokens carry over from month to month.

Cons - Because of all the features, it can be kind of complicated. However, they do offer great support documentation, including videos.

Note: They just sent an email that prices will be going up soon, so if you're looking for a great keyword research service, consider locking in your membership while prices are at their lowest.

Software to run the server is just your basic setup. Most use some form of Linux with Apache, although it works just as well with Windows Internet Server.

Generally, you will set this up at a co-location facility and they will normally install everything for you. I can provide you with an excellent co-location host.

I'd quite like to join/use someone's blog network. I already subscribe to one blog network. Not sure I have the time to build a network myself right now.

Just posting to see if its a possibility. It's something I've been thinking about for a while. I'd pay if it was possible.

Failing that my plan B is to create sub-folder type blogs on web 2.0 sites. And automate posting to various resources using macro programming. For now I don't have time for this though and will keep on using the blog network I have access to.

Hmmmm, I just read Kurt's post Success = Boredom.

Boredom - what a barrier!

It never occurred to me that overcoming boredom would be a big key to success in SEO. In fact I became self-employed mainly to avoid office boredom!

Looking at this again, I can probably easily build my own blog network using just rss2blog and the resources it posts to.
