#0, Social bookmarking niche test

A couple of weeks ago I changed the format of http://freevideosharingsites.com/, from a single page with 200 links and descriptions to a social bookmarking service.

Ideally, it will be used to bookmark videos sites. now, I already have one user, bookmarking anything but videos. ( doors and windows ).

So, i thought I would ask of my friends what do you think of setting up similar bookmarking niche sites?

Also, if you have a video related site, please create an account and setup add your links.

NOTE: My friends will get extra notice.

I will be updating the blog, and will be addding html either using blogblob or ZZ. I was going to put the links in using fatbomb. I still can be trying to see what works, and of course your thoughts.

Hey Kelvin,

My first instinct is to make it some sort of niche video site, and concentrate on more specific topics.

On possibility would be to have a local D.C. video directory, where uses add video related to the sites and places around D.C. You've got so many land marks, plus the Smithsonian is worth thousands of videos.

Get yourself a flip video camera (under $150 at Walmart and web ready) and take a bunch.

You could allow DC area businesses, charging them to video their restaurant, etc. (using a better camera), as well as advertising on the video pages. In other words, try to become the "video yellow pages" for D.C.

After the site is stocked with a decent number of videos, send out a press release to all the local media outlets.

Hi Kurt,

I will be a ton of local video on the DC portal.
http://thewashingtondirectory.com/

I have startd restocking the site. After one of the rebuilds I lost some old info, and just took forever making up my mind to push forward again.

I will be getting a few minutes of good data this week. I have been invited to a limited dinner with Martin Luther King III, and other civil rights leaders.

3 weeks ago i shot a video for a local DC gov agency

A month ago I got shots of a local NBA wizards player.

And of course what I am really pushing is that all small businesses can benefit from their own video. Especially, "how to do business with me videos" and " how to use our services or products " videos.

Hi Kelvin...

Sounds like things are going well...You just need to promo using all the various IM methods.

I will say, I'd try to create local "media events" and pound away at the local media. I'd constantly try to think of things that would justify press releases...

Outside of my local site, I was just looking for feedback on http://freevideosharingsites.com/, and using the same program as link bait for various niches. Such as: Dog related links, or Credit and finance links.

Hi Kelvin,

My answer is still the same...I'd use it as a niche video site. If you don't want to use it for a local site, I'd choose another niche, like humor, sports, maybe even "marketing how to's".

I just posted a bunch of stuff on the video/youtube thread you may want to check out. It would require you to upload your videos to other sites, but it may be worth it.
