Hi Kurt,

Setup:

First, I am using an old fatbomb 1.0 install. http://www.Domainsubmit.com

The Goal: Increase income from what would normally be a plain search engine.

Most fatbomb and other sites setup as search engines, get income from items like adsense, and other PPC items.

How do you increase income?: Seed the search engine with links to your own sites and or higher paying affiliate programs.

Collecting data:
I used PLR content, to create (grab} chunks of data. In this example, I had 100 plus single paragraph tips about online publications.

Task: add these tips to the search engine as searchable data.

=============== example of paragraphs ================

2. Co-Author A Publication - You can write a publication along with another author. You could sell it separately or both sell it and split the profits. You could also have multiple co-authors.

3. Compile A Publication - You could allow other authors and experts to write the publication for you in exchange for free publicity or other incentives. You would simply contact the authors and experts you want and ask them to donate some content.

4. Start An Affiliate Program For The Publication - You could allow other people to sell your publication for a percentage of the profits. You could eventually have literally thousands of people promoting your product with very little work on your part and no out-of-pocket expenses.

=============== end of example ================

Format of search engine data:
URL|Title|Description

To make this example go quickly, I just used one high paying affiliate program to direct users to if they clicked on any on the new data chucks. Of course, I could have investigated several, but this is a sample only.

So the above sample now looks like this:
============= start modified sample ==================

http://JoinTheInternetMarketingInnerCircle.com?1|Archived Subscription Web Site|You could set up a paid subscription web site where you archive and then sell other people?s information. You would contact the owners and ask them if you could archive their information exchange for free publicity.
http://JoinTheInternetMarketingInnerCircle.com?2|Author A Publication|You can write your own publication about any topic. You should do research first so as to fill a want in an audience or market with money to spend. Otherwise you can waste a lot of time. You can sell it yourself and keep all the profits or deal through other distributors and share the profit.
http://JoinTheInternetMarketingInnerCircle.com?3|Barter Subscription Web Site|You could set up a paid subscription web site where you allow people to trade products and services. It could be for advertising, links, products services, leads, expertise, information, etc.

============= end modified sample ==================

NOTE: Kurt, trying the format ||description, did not work. Only 1 result would show. This apparently is because multiple URLs count, as one link, even though the URL spot is blank, the program sees it as the same as other blank URLs.

So using a single URL, with my new database, I had the same problem.
http://JoinTheInternetMarketingInnerCircle.com

To fix this, I made the URLs different, by adding the ?variable at the end of the link.
http://JoinTheInternetMarketingInnerCircle.com?3

By counting 1 to 100 now each link appears different to Fatbomb.

Now, what to see how it works, go http://domainsubmit.com and search for common words like:

author
compile
subscription
publication

You will notice that the data shown first, (more points) is coming form the database named .
Sources: publications

Feel free to comment, good, bad or confusing.
Now, if you happen to look at this 48 hours after posting, the structure or data may be different because this is a live site, example.

Hey Kelvin,

Thanks a lot...

I remember getting "results"...It must have been "result" (singular)...Sorry about that.

Kurt, another option would be to modify how the database shows results.

If you don't want to show an actual link you can put in any dummy info, for the link, but modify the template so that the link part, does not show.

With fatbomb, Kurt has mentioned several times that you can have multiple databases.

In the one I just added I added a small bit of code to each link to highlight the fact that it is not a free listing. This is to satisfy any ruling bodies that may think you are hiding the fact that paid links are in your results.

By searching for the word " site " you will see purple text , stating premium links.

Hi Kelvin!

Thanks for the example again.

A question.

I have a product database that has url-to-product|title|description|url-to-image

How would you configure it so that the IMAGE shows up in the listing? Being to the left would be best!

Allowing the image to show would be great.

I messed around a couple of hours last night and it didn't work.

Thanks and blessings,

Ed

Hi Ed,

Your fatbomb database can only have 3 fields

URL|Title|Description

So your image info has to go in one of the existing 3 areas.

Example:

URL|Title|Description and full HTML to image

Here is code taken from an older fatbomb database: < > or replace by ( ) because the forum does not like code.

http://aladc.org|American Lung Association of DC| American Lung Association of the District of Columbia (br> (br) (img src="http://www.shopdcmetro.com/images/dcmetro.gif"; width="61" height="45" border="0") (/a)

Ok this may be the stupidest noob question but I got to ask.

I'm trying something like Kelvin and have created a similar database file "idea.txt". Now the Fatty 1 Admin has a place to specify the database path.

But where do I actually upload the "idea.txt" file in my server before specifying the path for the database?

And as far as giving different weight to different URLs in the database is a Fatty 2.0 feature right?

You can upload it anywhere you want, which is why you need to specify a path to the text file.

However, to make things easier you can upload it to the Fatty folder, in the same folder as fatbomb.cgi. If you do this you only need to enter the file name as the path:
idea.text

If it is located somewhere else, you'll need to use the dashes and dots:
../idea.txt
/folder/anotherfolder/idea.txt

I suggest you just upload it to the same folder that contains fatbomb.cgi.

That's correct.

Hi Karsten,

Thanks for bringing this post back up. I had forgotten what I had done. Now, of course I have to use the same formula elsewhere.

As for other examples, depending on your access level, just search for references to fatbomb, and you should find some samples, you can also search your favorite search engine for fatbomb or fatbomb.cgi, as many people early on did not have the rights to change it, other still yet, just did not do so.

You can also search for "powered by fatbomb". That is what I meant to say.
