"Social Bookmarking RSS Feeds"

Here is a list of different Social Bookmarking sites that have RSS feeds and how to format the syntax without having to login or access their site.

Why do you need this list?

A quick and easy way to promote your bookmarks (aka links to your pages) via rss.

What can you do with this?

Use the feed with your social bookmarking account userid and a feed with a keyword tag in your niche and create a custom feed or content to a blog.

You can bookmark your feed url in different social bookmarking services or accounts.

Use it like any other rss feed.

The feeds are light on content but rich on links back to your site if you are using USERID feeds and have bookmarked some of your own sites.

If you are using the KEYWORD make sure it is a general category like a tag, not a long tail search term.

- great for making a feed of a specific niche of bookmarks for a user

* includes thumbnail images of websites. Great if you need a directory style look. Here is a sample of the feed on a WordPress blog:
** not a sb site ** http://englishhorn.info/testsb/ ** not a sb site **

- another great feature to use is the feed for all the pages of a domain bookmarked

http://blogmarks.net

- includes thumbnail images of website

They use ads by Pheeds embedded in their RSS feeds.
Depending on your RSS system, it can make a mess of your posts.
Not recommended so use with caution.

The above are my favorite social bookmarking sites simply because they are supported by the main tools like Auto Social Poster and Bookmarking Demon as well as have RSS capabilities.

I didn't include sites that the RSS features were not working when tested or the sites that don't support RSS feeds.

If you haven't started to use social bookmarking, the above sites are a great start.

Thanks THB...

Everyone...Here's another BIG benefit from this:

Let's say you have a page about "blue dogs" and you get a few bookmarks to this page on various bookmarking services.

Now, you want to make sure that the pages on these services that contain links to YOU get indexed by Google.

So, you make sure to use these RSS pheeds containing your bookmarked pages on sites/blogs of your's that get spidered by Google.

Not only do you make sure that the links TO your site get indexed, you are also increasing the chances that the bookmark pages also get indexed and rank.

In other words, let's say you get a page bookmarked in http://del.icio.us , http://del.icio.us will create an RSS pheed that links to the page with your link.

You want to put a link back to this http://del.icio.us page to make sure it gets spidered and indexed.

You can also submit and "ping" this RSS pheed, creating a chance that other sites will pick up and publish your pheed as content on THEIR site.

Remember, you want to create content that will generate an RSS pheed whenever possible. Then, you want to recycle this RSS pheed on as many other sites of your's as possible.

This is a very important concept and one you should spend a few minutes thinking about.

Questions, comments and suggestions are appreciated...

It takes less work and risk to promote a feed from an authority site like a social bookmarking site than it does www.myspammy.info/spammy.xml.

The links in both feeds go to your pages, they are just organized different. Subtle but important difference. Instead of the search engine seeing Kurt's feed of his own links promoted by Kurt, they see Someone Different promoting a feed of links from Kurt (and maybe others).

So far there hasn't been a devaluation or penalizing of links in social bookmarking sites like there was in directories or guest books. For some reason, the search engines are relying on the bookmarking sites to keep themselves spam-free.

Very similar premise to why Squidoo pages sometimes outranked the actual site in the SERPS. And we have seen that change not too long ago but it is still effective.

Furl.net RSS feed is showing urls as redirects, instead of a direct link to your site.

So that should now be removed.

This is a new one to add:

Mister wong
http://www.mister-wong.com/rss/user/USERNAME/

Mister Wong doesn't use auto-discovery for their feeds. So you wouldn't necessarily know that they have them. I only recently found this, when I searched across the page manually.

Thanks Luke,

Google should still "follow" the redirect. Even if it doesn't pass on PR, it's not really a bad thing to link to a page that links to your own resources. But people should be aware...Thanks.
