Next month's downloads (which is actually on the 20th of this month) will include GodfatherBomb.

I've sold plenty of GodfatherBombs for $250.

Godfather is a complete email newsletter program, as well as a drip feed page-making machine hosted on your own server.

However, there are a few restrictions:

1. No tech support and I mean this. I've lost touch with my programmer of 6-7 years and can't help with the tech side and GodfatherBomb is a tough install.

If you can't do the tech stuff, pay someone to install it for you. Note that you also need BlogBomb installed for Godfather to work, as it pulls RSS from BlogBomb.

There are good step by step install directions and if you follow them AND your server has the "standard" set up, you should be able to get it installed.

Please no emails saying, "I know you said no tech support, but...".

2. You must have made a good contribution to this forum to get your Godfather.

3. I'll likely limit this to the first 12 Bombers that qualify, then offer it again the following month under the same conditions. So you better be quick and helpful.

Here's a nice little trick using GodfatherBomb...You can install it on one host/domain, then create multiple "lists". Next, use the Moverz Tuel to download a different "list" and upload it to other sites.

In other words, you can use this Godfather/Moverz system to build and dripfeed many, many different sites, without having to install Godfather each time.

And if you have been building your own RSS pheed containing all your other stuff, you can add it to Godfather using "random" and automatically cross-link all your stuff.

Let me add...I can and wil support the USAGE of Godfather, I just can't help with installation.

Also, did anyone notice that I added a post on the Content thread that Digg content is public domain?

And did you know Digg offers RSS pheeds?

And Godfather uses RSS pheeds to create email newsletters as well as drip-fed static pages?

And Moverz will download pages from one domain and "move" then to another?

And if a newsletter of your's gets popular, you can use Scrubz to pick and choose the highest quality content?

Anyone see the potential here to have tons of sites and tons of email newsletters, all on auto-pilot?

i used godfatherBomb a while back, but lost the domain that it was installed on.

It is very powerful.

I will be using it again. Especially with the extra knowledge gained in the last year or so and so many content feeds.

MY personal recommendation. Start contributing, so you can get your copy.

Let me update this...

Here's the deal. I installed my versions of BlogBomb and GodfatherBomb and it isn't working quite right. My version of BlogBomb is actually newer than those I have working with older versions.

I'm trying to have my old programmer look into this, but he's very ill, and very busy, as he's getting ready to move from the Ukraine to the US. Once he moves here, he will be under contract with a company and won't be able to do any outside work.

I did just get the versions Kirill uses to do the installs, but haven't tested it out yet.

If someone is very skilled at installing scripts and wants to give it a try, email me at LVHA@aol.com and I'll send you the scripts if you can do a quick test for us.

Note: You need to have BlogBomb installed first, and it appears you need to use an earlier version, which will be included. Godfather then reads BlogBomb to create email newsletters and drip-fed html pages.

Any volunteers?

Read Me's:

Also, I have an entire forum dedicated to Godfather:

Hi Kurt

I've just installed Godfather and the install seemed to go ok. But I can't seem to get any BlogBomb RSS feeds to work with it.

I have the new BBX2 installed. Is there any way to still get the old BlogBomb? Maybe that will work for me.

Thanks alot...Calvin

Hi Calvin,

That version "should" work...Really sorry about that.

Here's an older version you can try:
BlogBomb
www.dombom.com/iframes/BBX2RSS2.2.zip

Thank you, Kurt

Maybe the version isn't the problem, because I'm still getting the following error after adding {rss2:1} to the template using either version:

cannot trigger channel
(http://www.electronicentertainment.org/cgi-bin/godfather/feedsearch_ssi.cgi?channel=user-1.xml)
<404 Not Found>

It seems to be looking for feedsearch_ssi.cgi in the /cgi-bin/godfather/ directory, even though I haven't entered that path anywhere?

In the RSS Sources configuration box, I have entered the correct path to feedsearch_ssi.cgi:
/home/me/public_html/cgi-bin/BBX2/feedsearch_ssi.cgi

I know you said no support for Godfather, but maybe you have run into this error before?

Thanks again...Calvin

Hi Calvin,

Actually, I haven't seen this one before...But you are correct, Godfather is looking the the wrong place, and the question is how to fix it?

Double check your Godfather admin config panel and see if all the URLs are correct.

Also check the the BLOGBOMB config.pl file to make sure it is using the correct path to itself and not to the godfather folder/files.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kurt. Unfortunately, I double and triple checked all of the paths. It's really a shame since the email function is working fine. If only I could put RSS in the emails.

I'll try installing both Godfather and BBX2 on another domain and see if anything is different.

Thanks...Calvin

Hi Calvin,

Hold off on this. It sounds more like a programming mistake more than a server thing. Give me a few days, maybe longer, but I think you're better off doing something else in the meantime.

Ok thanks, Kurt. I'll work on other stuff for now.

Hey Calvin,

I finally got a response...See if this works, this is from Kirill, the programmer. Hope this helps...

NOTE: This forum messes with the code...Look for double semi-colons:
;;

The user needs to patch the
data/config.pl file in the BlogBomb directory, commenting out the
lines
if (exists $ENV{HTTP_HOST} and exists $ENV{SCRIPT_NAME}) {
$SCRIPT_URL = "http://$ENV{HTTP_HOST}$ENV{SCRIPT_NAME}";;
if ($SCRIPT_URL =~ /^(.*)\/<^\/>+/) {
$FEEDSEARCH_SSI_URL = $1;
}
}

and setting a valid value for the parameter:

$FEEDSEARCH_SSI_URL = "http://domain.tld/cgi-bin/blogbomb";;
