Help, news and support for Updatez

#1, Sensitivity RE: 1 Updatez

Sensitivity allows Updatez to use different measurements for different pages to determine if they have been updated or not.

For example, Google News pages return the time of the search, so if Updatez checks a minute later, if Google's search was faster or slower, this time would be different, therefore the page had been "updated", but the only thing that changed was the time it took Google to perform the search.

Sensitivity:
100% Track every change, no matter how small.
1% The entire page needs to be "new" before an Updatez is reported.

For Google News, I have found a Sensitivity of about 64% to be pretty good.

If you're tracking a competitor or an auction, you may want to set the Sensitivity to 99-100%.

"Versions" are like snapshots of pages that update often, keeping a record of the content of the page for specific moments in time.

Use Updatez to track Yahoo and Google News pages, so you don't miss a thing.

Or, keep track of your competition's testing techiniques...

Keep a recorded history of your favorite forums and blogs.

Or use Updatez to "cache" important pages of yours.

Updatez is also a powerful "bookmark" organizer that lets you SEE and SEARCH your stored pages, plus automatcially track them for updates.

Beginners perspective on Udpdatez Tuel---Tom Eleam.

With this tuel you can always have your favorite sites and pages update at your fingertips.

Lets go over the layout and I'll show you what I did.

First at the top left corner you'll see "Recent Searches:" Underneath that column are your recent searches here is an example of the keywords I used:
Weather
detroit
sports
sport news
latest sport news
latest weather news
marketing
stocks
bonds
I used the following URL's to keep me informed:

http://www.ozemedia.com/cgi-bin/webbbs/webbbs_config.pl

http://www.ablake.net/forum/

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=weather&btnG=Search+News

http://sports.yahoo.com/

http://finance.yahoo.com/

End of URL example
----------------------------------

On the left hand side you'll see something like
this:
List of Pages
Yahoo sports
Last updated: 03:38 PM Sep 30, 04, 2 hours ago.
http://sports.yahoo.com/

stocks
Last updated: 05:14 PM Sep 30, 04, 1 hour ago.
http://finance.yahoo.com/

Google weather
Last updated: 04:40 PM Sep 30, 04, 1 hour ago.
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=weather&btnG=Search+News

Add Page

The above are the Urls of the sites I want to keep abreast of . I deleted the two forums url for brevity here. When you enter the url you want to have update the result will appear on this side.

This forum does not handle brackets very well so underneath the page in question there will be two commands Show and Delete when you click on show another page will appear showing the preview of that page under Current Content underneath the preview window you'll see Modify Page where you can reset the title of the page the url and change
the time you'll also be able to change the sensitivity and version. If you click on delete the page will be as it says deleted.

Read Kurt's post on this same thread to get a better handle of what sensitivity and versions are.

If you're still not sure how this works or have questions regarding Udaatez post them here on this thread.

On the bottom left side is "Search Your Pagez:"
this is where you enter your keywords. Note...
It's easier to add your sites (pages ) first then use the "Search Your Pages" One word of caution when adding the Url for the sites (pages) you want updatez before you copy and paste the url next to the http:// the http:// as been done for you. Otherwise you won't have the site loaded. I found this out the hard way which delayed me getting this read me out.

That's it! as I come across anything else on updatez I'll post them here.

Kurt,

I purchased updatez full, so that I could sell upgrades to my tuelz.

However, since upgrading to 2.xx, it seems the upgradez full mod no longer works.

Is it me or is there a 2.xx full upgrade available?

Hi Kurt,

Updatez as it comes with tools is working properly.

However the default version is lite, ( limited to ).

The built in upsell for rebranding, is selling the full ( unlimited ) version of updatez.

After upgrading to 2.0, I no longer have the mod to offer the unlimited version.

So, i was wondering did the unlimited version get upgraded?

HI Kelvin,

If a user already had either lite or full, they can upgrade to the corresponding 2.0 version.

However, if you want to sell/give away the Full version, you'll need to also give them the Full version of 2.0. You should have access to 2.0 full when you ugraded to 2.0.

If you don't have Updatez 2.0 Full, email me and I'll send it to you.

(Hope taht makes sense, I barely understand it myself.)

Yes, it makes sense.
If you could send that, it would be great.
